Lifeforce Yoga

LifeForce Yoga, developed by Amy Weintraub (MFA, E-RYT 500 ), is a system of Yoga practices that are designed intentionally to work with and manage the mood. LifeForce Yoga is Yoga, plain and simple. Yoga, no matter what “style” you practice, unites polarities within and without. The sense of separation, which is the literal source of depression, is diminished, and the sense of connection to oneself and others is enhanced. Yoga can also shift the physiological imbalances in the body that create depressed or anxious moods. Lifeforce Yoga practices are adapted to the student, so that each individual can move into a more balanced (satvic) and positive emotional, mental, and physical state of equanimity and self-awareness.


In LifeForce Yoga classes, we will learn Yogic tools, both physical/physiological and spiritual, for balancing mood and realizing and sustaining positive mental health. These tools include:

  • Yogic Breathing (Pranayama and Kriya)
  • Postures (Asana and Mudra)
  • Sound (Mantra)
  • Affirmation (Sankalpa)
  • Visualization (Bhavana)
  • Relaxation, Meditation, and Witness Consciousness
We discuss the Yogic view of depression and anxiety, and relate the Yogic tools for positive mental health to current research in neurobiology and psychology. The goal of a LifeForce Yoga class or workshop is to give students resources to begin to work with their own fluctuating mood states, empowering them to create optimal balance and health in their own bodies and lives.

I offer LifeForce Yoga classes both by teleclass, live and recorded, or in-person. A LifeForce Yoga class may include several practices, such as breathing (pranayama), postures (asana). sound healing (mantra), and hand yoga (mudra) that can assist clients in managing and moving beyond their symptoms. This class, recorded October, 2009, explores how telepathic animal communication can awaken and deepen our spiritual journeys, and also help us to understand the spiritual lives of animals.
